Barbara Vall is a multidisciplinary designer, maker, and founder of Studio.B — a design practice based in Edinburgh, creating sculptural art and functional objects shaped through sustainable material exploration.
Her practice combines design, making, and material research, working with reclaimed, industrial, and emerging materials — including biomaterials and mycelium-based composites. Drawing on a background in graphic and web design, her work has evolved toward material-led making, where the process of testing, prototyping, and fabrication shapes each finished piece.
Her work has been exhibited at Dutch Design Week. Alongside her sculptural art, she develops functional objects as prototypes for future production, with an ongoing practice rooted in exhibition, collaboration, and making.
Alongside her studio practice, Barbara has extensive experience in education and creative learning environments. She is interested in how knowledge can be shared through making, workshops, and material exploration.
Originally from Barcelona, and currently dividing her time between Edinburgh and Barcelona, she is open to research collaborations, exhibitions, residencies, educational projects, and design opportunities.
