How can oak and reclaimed acrylic be joined through simple, non-permanent connections while preserving the clarity of both materials?

Reclaimed acrylic from a previous project was reintroduced as a material resource for experimentation. This study investigates different methods of connecting acrylic and oak without additional fixings.

Iteration 1 | Contained connexion

Acrylic components are inserted into CNC-machined pockets within the oak. The wood acts as a structural host, concealing the connection and creating a clean, integrated appearance.

Iteration 2 | Interlocking connection

The connection is embedded within the geometry of the components, allowing oak and acrylic to engage directly while remaining visually discreet.
